We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.-Sir Winston Chrchill
Giving of myself to others is without a doubt one of the greatest pleasures that I have received from life. Whether it is something as small as giving a smile or if it is something big and extravagant, it is always one of the most fulfilling things that I have done.
You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it's a little thing, do something for others - something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it. Giving frees us from the familiar territory of our own needs by opening our mind to the unexplained worlds occupied by the needs of others.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, one of my favorite authors once said, "There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life -- happiness, freedom, and peace of mind -- are always attained by giving them to someone else."
Give something of yourself everyday, and you will have a wonderful life.
Align yourself with a group of givers and you will have an extraordinary life.
Figure out what you have available to give and what you want to give and begin giving it away today. You will get more than your share in return.
The Law of Reciprocity states that one must give to receive. You have also heard the saying "what goes around, comes around." This statement works for giving also. What you give you will get more of in your life.
Here are some more thoughts on giving.
Enjoy!
If we have the opportunity to be generous with our hearts, ourselves, we have no idea of the depth and breadth of love's reach.
Margaret Cho, weblog, 03-09-04
Do give books - religious or otherwise - for Christmas. They're never fattening, seldom sinful, and permanently personal.
Lenore Hershey
Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need.
Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931)
Make all you can, save all you can, give all you can.
John Wesley (1703 - 1791)
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807 - 1882)
A compliment is a gift, not to be thrown away carelessly, unless you want to hurt the giver.
Eleanor Hamilton
The excellence of a gift lies in its appropriateness rather than in its value.
Charles Dudley Warner (1829 - 1900), 'Eleventh Study,' Backlog Studies, 1873
The great art of giving consists in this: the gift should cost very little and yet be greatly coveted, so that it may be the more highly appreciated.
Baltasar Gracian
We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.
Sir Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965)
I will be in Utah Monday-Wednesday of next week, but I will attempt to update my blog while I am on the road this time.
Also, there is a special guest speaker coming to Santa Ana, California on Tuesday of next week. This gentleman is the CSO and Co-Founder of a company that is leading the next generation of giving, ViSalus. If you are interested in attending this free event, call me for more details.
Till next time, live with passion and at the least, give a smile to someone. You never know how far the ripples of the pebble that you throw into the pond will travel. :-)
You're the Best!
Have a great weekend!
